Brendan Smith is the Principal Consultant for Prism Cyber, the cyber specialist team at Cube Networks where he is also the CISO. He specialises in advising Executive and Boards on security governance, risk, and strategy.
Brendan has over 20 years experience in the information- and cyber-security field, including managing the A/NZ Security Services team for a global integrator for seven years. Prior to joining Cube Networks Brendan was the CISO at an ASX-50 company. During these roles he has successfully designed and implemented major security strategies and programs.
Having worked and gained experience across industry verticals including retail, defence, finance and entertainment, he has also seen first-hand the challenges faced by security teams, their leadership, and the senior stakeholders that they must assure (or answer the dreaded ‘Are We Secure?’ question!).
Coming from a technical background, he now concentrates on governance and security management, including being a past-Chair of the Standards Australia committee that works on ISO27001 and associated standards. He has also been active as an industry advisor and mentor for incubator programs and new entrants to the field.
