Chris is an IT professional that has worked in the industry for more than 30 years. During the early years of the internet, Chris noticed the emergence of scams, and particularly West African based advanced fee scammers. Fascinated, Chris decided to create some accounts and reply to these scammers in his spare time.
Over the years Chris has witnessed the rapid expansion of West African fraud, from the simple Nigerian Prince email, through to non-delivery and Business Email Compromise and the emergence of organised crime syndicates. Starting at the beginning of 2022, Chris noticed a new trend, the significant increase of West African scammers directly targeting Australians, so he began collecting information and documenting his interactions with West African crime.
Beginning in 2022, Chris highlights his achievements as having collected and reported over 2,500 Australian bank accounts being used for fraud to financial institutions, and investigating and tracking more than 20,000 fraudulent websites.
Alongside his work with Cyberoo, Chris is also an active member of Artists Against 419 – aa419.org and has also formed close relationships with many likeminded individuals and groups worldwide.
