Mr Shainal Kavar has served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at La Trobe University since November 2022, bringing extensive experience in delivering large-scale digital transformation initiatives. As a key member of the Chief Operating Officer's portfolio, Kavar leads the Information Services team with a focus on developing customer-centered digital infrastructure that enables the university's broader digital transformation strategy. Under his leadership, La Trobe has unveiled its ambitious AI-first strategy in November 2024, forming strategic partnerships with Microsoft Australia and New Zealand and CyberCX to position the university at the forefront of AI innovation and education. Prior to La Trobe, Kavar held senior executive positions at Downer Group as Head of IT Strategy, Architecture and Business Engagement, and previously served as CIO at Spotless. His global experience spans multiple territories with organisations including Clarity Consulting, LogicaCMG, and Andersen Consulting.
