Timothy McIntosh

Dr Tim McIntosh is the Generative AI and Cybersecurity Research Strategist at Cyberoo Pty Ltd and a PhD supervisor in cybersecurity at RMIT University. He leads research efforts at Cyberoo focused on developing cybersecurity solutions powered by generative AI. Prior to this, he served as a Security Operations Centre (SOC) analyst at CyberCX Pty Ltd and was the Course Coordinator of Australia’s first cybersecurity degree specialising in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) at Academies Australasia Polytechnic.

Dr McIntosh holds the IAPP CIPP/E and CIPT, the (ISC)² CISSP and CSSLP, the CompTIA CASP+ and CySA+, as well as the Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert and Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (App Builder) certifications.

His current research interests include examining the ideological exports and influences of large language models (LLMs) and investigating mechanisms for the containment of theoretical Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

He has published as first author in several leading journals, including Future Generation Computer Systems, Computers & Security, ACM Computing Surveys, IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence, and IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems.
